Beginning Life Skills

Basic Life Skills

The Beginning Life Skills group is intended to be taken in conjunction with our Advanced Life Skills group. It is set up as a didactic group meant to teach skills for basic living. These range from interpersonal skills to more tangible mastery of daily needs. This group offers many benefits to its members, as it invariably includes people with all different levels of skill. This allows the members the opportunity to teach one another.

The topic is chosen and the basic teaching points are given at the beginning of the group. Group members are then given the opportunity to use their own life experiences to teach other members and build on what they have already learned. There is time spent during the group to process the topics and help members to gain a better understanding of what types of things have gotten in the way of the successful implementation of these skills in the past.
